Community guidelines

Last modified: August 12, 2026

RealRoots Forums is a place for women to share advice, support, and lived experience. These guidelines protect that space. Members can browse before accepting them. Accepting the current version is required before you post, comment, or react.

These guidelines sit alongside our Terms & Conditions. If something here conflicts with those Terms, the Terms control.

Lead with care

Respond to the person, not just the problem. Disagreement is welcome. Insults, harassment, hate, and dogpiling are not. If a conversation is heating up, step back or report it instead of stacking on.

Protect privacy

Do not share identifying details, screenshots, or stories that expose someone without their consent. That includes other members, guides, partners, and people who are not in the community. If a story needs specifics to be useful, keep them yours, or leave them out.

Share experience, not authority

Forums is peer support, not medical, legal, financial, or crisis care. Share what helped you. Avoid diagnoses, treatment plans, and dangerous instructions. Mental Health and Motherhood conversations are especially for lived experience, not professional advice.

Keep it genuine

No spam, solicitation, impersonation, or coordinated promotion. Do not use Forums to sell, recruit, or drive traffic to your own offers. If you are unsure whether a post is promotional, it probably is.

Use anonymity responsibly

You can post or comment anonymously so other members do not see your name or photo. Anonymous content is still linked to your account for safety and moderation. Do not use anonymity to harass, impersonate, or dodge accountability.

Report risk, do not amplify it

If content is harmful, report it from the post or comment menu. Do not quote, screenshot, or pile onto it. If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or crisis support. In the US, you can call or text 988.

How we enforce these guidelines

Reports can include harassment, hate speech, privacy or doxxing, spam or solicitation, dangerous advice, self-harm concern, sexual or violent content, and other issues. Staff may hide content pending review, remove it, restore it, warn a member, pause writing, or pause Forum access.

We aim to acknowledge urgent safety and privacy reports within one hour during staffed hours, harassment and hate reports within four hours, and other reports within one business day.
